We saw too many travelers priced out of East Africa's most extraordinary experiences — a face-to-face encounter with a mountain gorilla, a sunrise game drive across open savannah, a boat gliding past hippos on the Kazinga Channel — simply because the safari industry had made them feel like luxuries reserved for a few.
